Volt has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking a Research Engineer (Python Coding) to work onsite at our client’s facility in Mossville, IL. This is a contingent position expected to last 1 year.
As part of the Analytics & Engineering Automation group, you will have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to a cooperative team by creating, executing and maintaining computer processes which monitor engine health.
- Responsibilities include:
The main function of a research engineer in the engine condition monitoring/product health team is to investigate, design, and maintain analytics models of mechanical products which output the mechanical products system or component health status. A typical research engineer has the ability to investigate failure modes and code those failure signatures into automated data analysis processes.
+ Coding engine health monitoring concepts into successful monitoring processes
+ Analyzing monitoring algorithms and scripted processes for improvement; working with team to execute improvements
+ Maintaining monitoring algorithms and scripted processes and replicating to new engine products
+ Analyze data in order to answer specific design and validation questions in the area of preventative maintenance and root cause analysis
+ Execute the creation of configuration files for data acquisition systems, defining what data is to be collected
+ Coding experience in Python
+ Ability to make common computations and read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports
+ Strong proficiency in statistical methods
+ Basic knowledge of diesel engine functions and some knowledge of engine subsystems and what they do
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
+ 2-4 years of professional engineering experience
This position is located in Mossville, Illinois. Candidates must be able to relocate to this location at their own expense.*
