The position of Deposit Operations Manager is responsible to oversee the successful processing of the transactions of the customers of Sauk Valley Bank with accuracy and completeness. The Deposit Operations Manager assumes the responsibility for the management of the deposit operations staff and operations functions, including systems and monitoring; develop and implement enhancements that improve the overall efficiency of deposit operations; reinforce the application of superior customer service through his or her own example; responsible for budget and related fiscal stewardship. The Deposit Operations Manager is a hands-on/actively involved position who is able to assist team members with technical knowledge or procedures as needed.
Deposit Operations Manager Primary Functions:
Directs and oversees financial institution data processing operations and concerns, including policies, legal requirements, automated procedures, instrument negotiability and accounting procedures
Ensures deposit data integrity for regulatory and legal compliance and tax reporting
Ensures processes are in place for timely exception processing to avoid losses due to delays and errors
Builds expertise and processes to ensure accurate and cost effective processing of transactions
Responsible for IRS reporting, research, garnishments, subpoenas, legal requests and EFT error resolution
Technical System Functions:
Directs and oversees the parameter file and system integrity of Sauk Valley Banks core banking system. This includes general ledger, deposits, CD/IRA, safe deposit boxes, file maintenance, ACH, AFT interfaces, data file specifications, input processing to Sauk Valley Banks core system, item capture, Fedline Advantage and item processing equipment. Optical retrieval and document imaging system.
Key contact with Banks Core system and data center
Responsible for reviews of user security parameters and employee access to core system
Writes instructions for financial institution users based on programmers documentation. Monitors operation of the computer system according to current available instructions. Updates and introduces efficient shortcuts and strategies when available
- Interfaces with outside vendors in the event of a system failure, reporting downtimes, repairs needed and cost estimates to supervisors
Assists with Sauk Valley Banks current and future technology, communications, and information needs as it relates to operations
Electronic Banking, Funds Transfer and Wire Services Functions:
Oversees Electronic Banking projects, product development and implementation, and system updates and maintenance. This includes ATM, EFT/ACH and teller capture
- Oversees Funds transfer and Wires services functions for Sauk Valley Bank
Maintains professional expertise and understanding of Federal Reserve account regulations, technological developments in electronic digital transfer of information and security encryption
Monitors incoming, outgoing and internal fund transfers for Sauk Valley Bank through periodic system audits
Assists other departments as necessary as it relates to product integration and support. Provides daily support to all internal teammates relating to core processing systems and products.
Prepares support documentation for federal/state examiners and outside independent auditors in their regular official examinations of Sauk Valley Bank
Participate as a member of Sauk Valley Banks Disaster Recovery Team and IT Steering Committee. Involvement in other bank committees as assigned
Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of the department including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.
Contribute to the growth of the community by participating in clubs and organizations and by attending and volunteering for community events
The position of Deposit Operations Manager will possess demonstrated supervisory skills, initiative, and a team attitude. He or she will display excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to research information and solve problems in a quick and efficient manner. This position may also require someone who can work well under stress with daily deadlines.
The position of Deposit Operations Manager is responsible for the supervision of all Deposit Operations employee(s).

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); five years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, word processing and spreadsheet software
Advanced typing skills to meet production needs of the position
Intermediate math skills
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
Current drivers license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
