Job Description

Business Analyst / Project Manager

  • Coordinates on one or more moderate-to-complex projects
  • Should be familiar with Waterfall and Agile project-management approaches
  • Must manage his/her projects schedule, budget, communication, risks & issues and
    o For Waterfall projects: scope, change requests
    o For Agile projects: stories, backlogs, sprints, scrums, deliveries
  • Must also manage knowledge transfer to support team and project close-out tasks
  • Sets deadlines, assigns roles and responsibilities
  • Monitors and summarizes progress of project
  • Prepares project status reports for upper management
  • Prepare specified project documentation according to United IT standards
  • Builds and maintains positive work relationships with team members, Business Partners, vendors, and other departments involved in his/her projects.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • A high degree of creativity is expected, with wide latitude given
  • Leads and directs the work of others
  • Provides direction tools, and process support to less senior team members
  • Has full knowledge in own discipline of project management
  • Requires moderate guidance
  • Makes decisions within guidelines & policy
  • Basic understanding of business principles
  • Monitors compliance and adherence to standards
  • Partners with business partners
  • Ensures work is within project scope
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Project and Microsoft project Web Access
  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint


  • Minimum of 5 years of project management and business analysis experience.
  • Communication Skills – The ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and management, capable of successful formal and informal communication, speaks and writes clearly and understandably, at the right level
  • Integrity and Trust – Involves being widely trusted, being seen as a direct, truthful individual, being able to present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner, keeps confidences, admits mistakes, doesnt misrepresent him/herself, puts principles above personal gain

  • Technical Expertise – Involves demonstrating a commitment to increasing knowledge and skills in current technical/functional area, keeping up to date on technical developments, staying informed on industry practices, knowing how to apply relevant technical processes to appropriate business needs
  • Customer Focus – Is dedicated to meeting and exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, gets customer information and uses it for improvements, acts with the customer in mind, establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
  • Dedication – Involves demonstrating a desire to dedicate time and energy to accomplish goals, tasks, assignments, etc. Will commit as much as it takes to get things done
  • Partners with the Business – Acts as valued partner to the business, develops relationships with the customer, deals honestly and effectively with business partners, is seen in a positive light by business customers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MS Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Patience – Involves listening and checking before acting. Is tolerant with people and processes, tries to understand the people and the data before making judgments and acting, sensitive to due process and proper approaches
  • Task Management – Delivers quality work on time, translates planning into action by following applicable established procedures or methodologies, proactively monitors and controls task status by collecting and analyzing task data to anticipate and address barriers, appropriately communicates and resolves or escalates any problems that arise
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio, SharePoint, TFS
  • Previous airline and/or technical operations experience
  • PMP certification
