The EHS Manager will be responsible for the development, documentation and delivery of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and processes to help drive standardization and ongoing improvement. The EHS Manager will also provide guidance and support to site management, program owners and site personnel to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Must understand state and local requirements and be well versed in the research, review, selection and deployment of standard tools, systems and guidance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures that all operations are conducted in accordance with all existing federal, state and local EHS regulations and corporate operating policies and procedures, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT and NFPA.
Develop and deploy EH&S Management System programs, guidance and tools in consultation with the EHS community.
Analyze, design, develop, and conduct appropriate training programs to assist management with EHS responsibilities.
Perform safety, DOT, security and environmental audits and inspections to comply with all current federal, state, county and city requirements.
Serve as interface with federal, state and local regulators including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and environmental regulatory bodies.
Review and analyze EHS data to identify trends or areas requiring additional focus.
Serve as a technical resource to the company in complex areas of EHS compliance such as LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
Conduct safety reviews on existing equipment, equipment purchases and engineering projects.
Communicate and provide expertise to Engineering, Procurement and Operations teams on EHS considerations for equipment selection, construction techniques, building design, new product development, third party contract manufacturing and other project work.
Research, and recommend emerging technology and tools focused on simplifying and standardizing EHS program execution.
Able to communicate regulatory changes and improvements to EH&S programs to senior leadership and internal customers.
Oversight of facility Emergency Response Team and EHS Action Team training.
Direct and oversee project review, emergency planning and business resumption initiatives.
Develop standard protocols to conduct routine inspections and audits to assure continued compliance with site health and safety requirements, commitments and procedures.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Environment, Health & Safety, Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
8-10 years of experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification desired.
Knowledge of occupational safety and health administration standards, Department of Transportation regulations and related risk management standards.
Must have prior experience in developing and deploying safety programs and tools associated with EHS Management Systems.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT and NFPA rules and regulations with a working knowledge of EPA and Environmental Regulations.
Proven work experience as a Safety Manager, including incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external customer orientation focus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Solid planning, organizational skills, and effective problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership, influence skills, professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to collaboratively work with all levels of the organization.
