Energy Systems Analyst

The incumbent will develop power systems and electricity market modeling, and analytics tools that support energy, economic, and financial analyses of power grid planning and operations, and the interaction with other infrastructures\. Some of these tools will require the development of underlying optimization methodologies and analytics frameworks\. The incumbent will conduct research related to a wide range of topic areas including the analysis of energy and power systems, optimization of renewable energy integration, electricity market design and operation, integration of other emerging technologies, and interdependencies between power grid, transportation, and water systems\. This position may require domestic and international travel\.

+ This position requires a PhD degree in Engineering or Science
+ Comprehensive skills in developing innovative algorithms, methodologies, and tools to model and simulate energy and power systems or their components\.
+ Knowledge of mathematical optimization methods \(e\.g\. mixed integer programming, stochastic programming\) and solution techniques\. Coding skills are a plus but not required\.
+ Knowledge and experience developing and using statistics tools, e\.g\. R\.
+ Skills in working in a multidisciplinary team environment\.
+ Skills in oral and written communication
+ Knowledge of data analytics, power systems operations and market design, issues surrounding the integration of variable renewables, and environmental issues\.
+ Experience in statistics and statistical analysis\.
+ Understanding of basic financial and economic principles\.
+ Experience in academic writing and publication
