Overview of Job Function:
The ‘Performance Architect, Engineering’ is primarily responsible for driving performance and stability improvements of the Verint applications, the architecture and integrations to ensure optimal end user experience by working closely with the Development, Quality Engineering, Database and Operations teams. The ‘Performance Architect, Engineering’ will contribute towards building automation/monitoring/data analysis tools for the performance engineering platform that will help teams understand and make better decisions on how their applications perform and scale. The successful candidate will bank on this data, learn and help model behavior of systems under stress, in addition to, providing high level guidance for the design and development of automated performance tests – load, stress, reliability, failover testing as well as analysis, optimization, and providing performance tuning recommendations to development teams to increase developer velocity.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with teams and other architects to develop end to end performance engineering strategies and approaches.
+ Provide technical recommendations for system performance measurement and analysis, scalable architecture and profiling/troubleshooting techniques.
+ Influence and apply the latest APM/tracing tools and work collaboratively with development teams to enable quicker resolution of performance issues.
+ Assist application teams with identifying performance bottlenecks in Verint applications running in AWS, Azure as well as on-prem.
+ Actively evaluate tools, frameworks and technologies geared towards performance engineering.
+ Lead the change to support continuous integration with automation solutions for performance in the cloud.
+ Analyze performance results and troubleshoot to identify bottlenecks and potential optimizations.
+ Experience on working across multiple, globally distributed teams in achieving performance goals.
+ Demonstrate outstanding communication, flexibility, teamwork and leadership.
+ Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
+ At least 12 years of experience working as a performance engineer or architect or equivalent work experience.
+ 5+ years of experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems, stream-processing platforms, client-server architectures, cloud DevOps.
+ Solid understanding of On Prem to Cloud evolution as well as hands on experience working with a public cloud (AWS/Azure).
+ Experience with open source load testing tools such as Apache JMeter, httperf etc and APM, infrastructure monitoring tools like SumoLogic, NewRelic and AppDynamics.
+ Software automation development skills (at least one) – Python, GO, or Java.
+ Experience with SQL databases – querying, profiling and performance tuning.
+ Proficiency with JVM internals as they relate to performance tuning and memory management.
+ Successful completion of a background screening process including, not limited to, employment verification, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations.
+ The ability to obtain the necessary credit line required to travel.
+ Understanding of software architecture to help software developers to leverage the platform with reliability.
