Automation Engineer (Infrastructure Svc Eng Advisor)

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

+ Collaborate with architects,developers, project managers, and test engineers to assist in thedefinition and maintenance of set-ups, builds, automation, and bestpractices to ensure a repeatable and traceable process for softwarereleases.

+ Lead the design andimplementation of Infrastructure as code automation of environments andconfiguration in the cloud.

+ Identify and correct anyproblems and report any issues to the appropriate team.

+ Document the build system andprocess.

+ Continually improve infrastructure provisioningautomation capabilities.

+ Assist in the creation of blueprints,catalogs and the creation and configuration of vRA and vRO/workflows, vROconfigurations/integration with external systems/3rd party tools such asInfoblox, and Service Now.

+ Independently lead the designof automation solutions to include hardware platforms, services, and operatingsystems

+ Support and review existingautomation portals / providing scripts and identify opportunities forimprovement and or migration to vRA/vRO or newer scripting techniques ortechnologies

+ Work with customers developmentteams to provide end-to-end solutions

+ Design and engineer Infrastructure Automation solutions,enabling increased productivity through automated infrastructure deploymentsand delighting Anthem’s BTO partners through effective self-service delivery.

+ Understand the broad objectives of the project as well ashis/her role in achieving those objectives, and modify approach when required.Escalates open issues to ensure execution success and keeps stakeholdersinformed through effective verbal and written communication.

+ Learn, understand and master new methods and technologies,and act as a resource or mentor for others.

+ Effectively organize and present project objectives andprogress. Contribute to technical publications and presentations.

+ Produces and maintains required technical documentationassociated with work product.


+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree program.

+ Bachelor’s degree required and 7 years of experience or Master’s degree and 5 years of experience.

+ 1-3 years’ experience in engineering and developing Infrastructure automation solutions, such as VMWare vRealize, Ansible , and AWS.

+ Experience developing and deploying a full-stack DevOps Pipeline – including Planning, Code Management, Test Automation, and Release Orchestration.

+ Experience working in highly regulated environments such as healthcare or insurance.

+ Must possess good documentationskills (Creating Runbooks, Topology etc.)


+ Knowledge of integrating solutions with ServiceNow

+ VMware experience/exposure (VMcreation and configuration, VCenter installation/upgrade, VRealizeautomation)

+ Working knowledge with AWSServices (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, VPCs, Security Groups, Route 53, ALB, ELB)

+ Knowledge and experience withautomation tools (Terraform, Ansible, YAML, PowerShell)

+ Self-motivated, directed andwith keen attention to detail

+ Excellent interpersonal, verbaland written communication skills

+ Experience delivering hostedsystems

+ Experience monitoring and alerting systemexperience (Nagios, VRA, etc.)

+ Experience deployingmulti-tiered environments on AWS/other public cloud

+ Knowledge in Hybrid Cloud andCloud Automation tools and integration

+ Strong background in essentialData Center infrastructure technologies such as Active Directory, DNS,DHCP, NTP, Servers, Storage, Networking, etc.
