In this newly created role as Learning and Development Manager you will be responsible for assessing the learning needs and designing & delivering learning initiatives for IDEAL Industries as well as the IDEAL family’s professional development programs. This person will work with our business leaders and family leaders across the organization to strategically train and develop our future business and family leaders.


+ Collaborate with organizational and family leaders to analyze and assess critical workforce skill gaps and to design and implement solutions to close these gaps.

+ Design creative and engaging learning materials that are targeted, purposeful, and increase knowledge and skills for all IDEAL employees and family leaders.

+ Work with business leaders, HR managers and family leaders on talent development functions to ensure employee and family development programs meet critical business needs.

+ Lead the Talent Review process across all divisions.

+ Leverage internal and external experts to build and deliver learning and development solutions.

+ Leverage different technologies to develop new and engaging learning courses.

+ Serve as a facilitator, instructor, coach and subject matter expert depending on the above needs/solutions.

+ Work in collaboration with the CHRO and Family Council Chair, to develop new process, standards, and increase the learning efficiencies of the company and the family.

+ Leads a committee (team) accountable for overall planning, implementation, and effectiveness of education and development strategies and initiatives, including the education and development programming at the IDEAL family’s annual meeting.

+ Oversees the Development and Education section of the portal, the family’s learning library, and the calendar of internal and external development and education opportunities.

+ Conducts career assessments, reviews, approves and coordinates requests for education and development and administers annual evaluation process for the family leaders.


+ A Bachelor’s Degree is required; preferably in Education, Instructional Design, Technical Communication, or related field

+ Demonstrated success in directly managing training initiatives including instructional design, course development and facilitation in an industrial environment.

+ 5+ years in a training and content development role. (a blended learning approach a plus.

+ Familiar with and able to apply Adult Learning Theories and development principals like ADDIE and SAM.

+ Understands basic financial models, including revenue, costs, and profitability concepts.

+ Enjoys working independently and within a team to develop training materials.

+ Excellent decision-making, planning, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
