The Plant Manager is accountable for all manufacturing, logistics, facilities, supply chain and inventory management activities for all Chemtool manufacturing facilities within the United States. This role provides leadership, guidance and direction for the entire Manufacturing staff so that all activities conducted within the plant environment are carried out in an safe, effective, diligent and cost-effective manner, ensuring that the organization’s commitments to its customers and to Lubrizol are successfully attained through partnership with the business.

This role has responsibility for budgets, Operations performance metrics, Safety and Site Security (in conjunction with HSES), LEAN activities, facility management, supply chain, logistics, inventory management, and all other activities as required to ensure successful attainment of both Business and Operations goals. The Plant Manager serves as part of Chemtool’s Leadership Team and reports directly to the Director, Manufacturing – Specialty and Industrial Additives.


+ Supports both Business & Lubrizol Additives Operations strategic initiatives.

+ Leads and supports the evolution towards Lubrizol Cultural goals.

+ Serves as part of the Chemtool Leadership Team to ensure the organization’s ability to meet customer needs/requirements.

+ Optimizes resource utilization through implementing an effective production organization and identifying proper resources needed to meet/exceed customer expectations. Drives cost efficiencies through continuous improvement and operating expense management.

+ Develop and maintain an operating budget including capital expenditures, headcount, long-term facility and capacity plans.

+ Supports the implementation of LEAN and other best practices within the plants.

+ Support Lubrizol HSES initiatives and practices to create/increase awareness and compliance to OHSA standards. .

+ Support the continuing application of ISO guidelines and promote compliance, change and root cause analysis activities. Oversee the updating, development and execution of guidelines for products/procedures as appropriate.

+ Lead, coach and mentor both direct reports and the overall manufacturing managerial staff. Responsible for PCM reviews and assisting staff in their Development activities.

Key Accountabilities

+ Ensure that the Plants meet their delivery, cost, productivity and other goals in support of the business and customers.

+ Active supporter of Lubrizol’s “Journey to Zero” Safety program

+ Deliver on cost management/reduction goals

+ Deliver on Operations plant metrics

+ Deliver on Inventory Management goals

+ Support Chemtool’s objective of managing complexity for our customers

+ All other duties as assigned

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in either Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience in a Manufacturing environment

+ Significant experience in a high-volume, complex packaging environment

+ Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet required deadlines

+ Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP is highly desirable

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

+ Customer-focused (both externally and internally)

+ Ability to think strategically at a high level, but able to delve into the details as necessary

+ Proven ability to incorporate innovation and implement strategies throughout all levels of an organization
