Responsible for managing middle office functions and activities aligned to the Cash and Treasury/Investment office functions at a financial services firm. Role requires solid leadership skills to establish a strong regulatory and control environment.
?Primary responsibility for first line of defense controls for the Treasury and Cash middle office
?Demonstrates extensive knowledge of a broad array of financial market instruments including cash, as well as regulatory reporting best practices across multiple jurisdictions
?Acts as liaison to second line of defense in the support and management for interaction with internal and external regulators .
?Oversees the preparation of policies, procedures, supporting analytics and controls to ensure regulatory compliance with applicable regulatory bodies and reporting requirements are met
?Advises business unit senior management on regulatory implications of proposed transactions
?Works with Corporate Global Compliance and Capital Markets Middle Office to align on priorities
?Works with regulators to influence future regulatory developments and interpretations
?Strengthen controls and review around investment portfolio and hedge accounting and swap dealer compliance
?Provide long-term vision for group ensuring review and controls are efficient and effective
?Partner with Treasury and Capital Markets on Trading/Accounting/Reporting technology roadmap strategy and implementations (near term priorities on Summit and TPG for Libor, Midas replacement, Broadridge (or like) for real time trade reporting for CFTC compliance, as well as broader global jurisdictions and drive for common end state reporting process
?Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise, recognized throughout the organization as the point of contact for the domains covered
?Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities
?Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues. Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
?Participates in developing division strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met and there is continuous improvement
?Ensures that the Regulatory Reporting team members have adequate, timely training opportunities either internally or externally
?Identifies relevant training that addresses areas in which the staff has developmental needs, as well as training that will facilitate the staff’s need to stay abreast of new regulatory reporting requirements
?Conducts performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff
?Provides input and support to budget management process
?A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required / preferred
?Related Industry qualification (e.g. ACCA) is required / preferred
?CPA and or knowledge of GAAP, Basel and bank financial products and other reporting requirements preferred
?7-10 years of experience in capital markets, internal audit and or external reporting
?Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
?In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required
?Highly flexible and adaptable to change
?Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Peoplesoft) is required
?Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Business Unit’s goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staff.
