Architects (non-licensed), SmithGroup, Inc. Sub. of SmithGroup Co. Inc., Chicago IL: Under supervision of a Licensed Architect, the Architect (non-licensed) prepares architectural drawings, renderings and design assignments. He or she receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and independently provides solutions for these objectives. Job duties performed under general supervision will include: Performs architectural assignments under general supervision. Coordinates drawings with drawings of other disciplines. Coordinates specifications with drawings to meet project requirements. Relates building design concepts to building codes, zoning ordinances and other external issues. Consults with manufacturers, researches and proposes materials and products. Participates in construction administration including assisting in responding to RFI’s, preparing sketches and addendums (CCD’s), visiting the construction site to gather information, preparing punch lists, and assisting in answering contractor questions. Advances designs developed by others and assists in creating and developing planning and design concepts for small projects. Works with basic drawing details and researches more complex details. Details internal and external features of a building. Assists in preparing construction drawings for exterior and interior building elements. Prepares presentation drawings and otherwise assists in presentations both internally and externally. Creates graphics for inclusion in marketing proposals and materials. Researches information for marketing proposals and materials. Regularly works with basic structural and spatial concepts, building code concepts, and current design software such as (Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite Programs etc.) as well as Microsoft Office. Occasional local and regional travel to job sites may be required, less than 10% annually.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architecture or any closely related architecture or design field of study.
