Non-Tenure Track Instructor Position in American Sign Language (ASL)

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science invites applications for a regular, part-time, non-tenure track faculty position to teach undergraduate-level language courses in American Sign Language. Other duties may include service on department committees, as assigned by the Head. Proposed start date is August 16, 2020. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank and experience.

A B.A/B.S degree with native or near-native proficiency in ASL is the minimal requirement for this position, though a Master’s degree and extensive professional experience and/or certifications are preferred. We seek candidates who have an active program of teaching ASL, and by extension Deaf Culture, and who demonstrate excellence in the classroom at the undergraduate level.

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Illinois is a major teaching and research unit located within the College of Applied Health Sciences, which also contains the Departments of Kinesiology and Community Health; Recreation, Sport, and Tourism; and the Disability Resources and Educational Services unit. The Department of Speech and Hearing Science has approximately 20 full-time faculty and offers undergraduate, professional, and doctoral programs.
