Argonne National Laboratory is inviting applications for the position of Accounting Specialist to work with the Financial Management & Procurement Services Division\.

The Financial Management & Procurement Services \(FMPS\) Division enables the work of the programmatic and operations staff at Argonne National Laboratory by providing effective and integrated financial services including procurement, financial systems and reporting, budgeting, accounting, and payroll services\.

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join the Payroll Services team\. The Accounting Specialist provides expert and authoritative advice and technical expertise on the application of accounting principles, and the design and development of accounting systems\. The ideal candidate will have experience working with ADP and have the ability to work in a customer focused environment\.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

+ Senior level payroll processing experience\.
+ Must have comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Cost Accounting Standards, Labor Laws and federal and state tax laws\.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of financial policies and principles including both accounting and budgeting\.
+ Strong analytical and quantitative skills\.
+ Ability to show initiative, independently set work priorities, successfully handle multiple projects for multiple people, and bring tasks to successful completion\.
+ Ability to work both independently and as a team participant\.
+ Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships including collaboration with others to achieve goals\.
+ Excellent oral and written communication\.
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and support\.
+ Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt quickly to changing requirements and unique situations\.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of automated financial systems in diverse computing environments, which utilize strong computer skills, particularly in spreadsheet and database design\.
+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on Excel\.
+ Ability to be a steward of Lab resources\.

This level of knowledge and expertise is typically attained through a Bachelor\`s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related financial/business area or equivalent and 4\+ years of directly related experience\.
