National Director – Energy Services
AEI Consultants has an opportunity available for a full-time Director of Energy Services to join and lead our expanding Energy Services department. The ideal candidate for this position is an engineer with 10+ years of experience in the energy or engineering fields managing technical projects, leading a national team, assisting a sales team in business development, budgeting and managing financials. This role is also responsible for marketing and business development activities, leading sustainability initiatives within the company, and working closely with the firm’s Leadership to ensure that AEI corporate goals and guidelines are maintained.
Responsibilities for the Director of Energy Services include:
+ Promote and further develop AEI’s brand in the Energy Efficiency Services market sector to serve commercial real estate owners and operators and expand the suite of services AEI offers to existing and new clients, including but not limited to energy analyses, providing reports and efficiency solutions including energy analytics, implementing innovative systems, green certifications and sustainable policies/practices
+ Developing a vision and business plan for growing the revenue and staff capabilities in alignment with the overall goals of the company;
+ Develop new sales opportunities through identifying client needs, developing services to address those needs, marketing those services through marketing collateral and thought leadership, and training staff to deliver on those needs;
+ Participating in the development of the company goals and the strategy for growth and development of service lines;
+ Responsible for the profitability of the division, including monitoring divisional revenue and adjusting staffing capabilities/needs as necessary to maintain profitability and to develop action plans for regional growth when necessary;
+ Maintaining technical excellence, deep understanding of client’s needs, rigor in consulting quality and communication, exceptional commitment to client satisfaction, and willingness to instill these insights in junior staff;
+ Educating the sales team and partnering with sales to appropriately qualify and price services;
+ Assisting the sales team with proposal development for advanced services;
+ Responsible for oversight and management of utilization, training, and career development for all junior staff with support from Corporate Operations, HR and Finance Departments;
+ Representing AEI in the commercial real estate community by attending regional industry events, networking, and presenting technical information at client or networking events;
+ Managing national accounts and continuing to develop new business within AEI’s service lines;
+ Building direct client relationships in support of sales efforts through servicing the account and in-person meetings;
+ Maintaining a technical review load and delegating reviews to support staff as needed;
+ Ensuring all projects are staffed, performed to high standards of quality, and delivered on time;
+ Building an intimate, in-depth understanding of the client’s goals and facilitating the delivery of consulting to meet those needs.
We are seeking a professional, dedicated, enthusiastic addition to a collaborative remote team with the following experience, skills and attributes:
+ Previous business development experience in commercial real estate, Energy/Sustainability Services, or a related field;
+ Annual book of business between $1 and $3 million with lenders, property owners, and/government entities;
+ Graduate from an engineering curriculum accredited by the A.E.T or from a Non-accredited engineering curriculum or related engineering science or with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. An M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar is preferred;
+ Ten years’ experience in the consulting engineering field designing and managing projects independently including developing plans and specifications;
+ Demonstrates previous success in developing and following organizational business plans;
+ Professional engineering license and professional energy certification by accredited rating agency (LEED, CEM, BPI-MFBA, ASHRAE BA, etc.) strongly preferred;
+ Excellent writing and verbal skills;
+ Be extremely organized and have great multi-tasking skills;
+ Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels;
+ Willingness to travel if necessary;
+ Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and able to work productively and independently on multiple projects at a time under strict deadlines with guidance from senior staff;
+ Experience with modeling software (eQuest, HAPs, Trane or other);
+ Experience leading company-wide Sustainability initiatives;
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
