Core Responsibilities:

+ Assure that projects will effectively integrate with existing programs and strategies so that long and short-term business goals are attained.

+ Lead 1 or more high strategic value projects within the division from concept to commercialization. Lead cross-functional teams to execute projects with sound problem solving methodology; track project and program status and results; remove and elevate project barriers.

+ Accountable for total project scope; completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date.

+ This position will require creation of detailed project plans, resource and budget management, schedule management, and project documentation including design history files & phase gate reviews in accordance with internal design control requirements.

+ Drive cross-functional teams to meet milestones and deliverables established in project planning and agreed upon with senior leadership

Leadership Activities:

+ Solicit the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions in a tactful and persuasive manner.

+ Lead others in the completion of project tasks and sub projects

+ Manage a cross-functional team which may consist of senior level individual contributors.

+ Manage the decision-making process.

+ Is the final decision-maker for conflicts when in context of agreed upon project plan.

+ Creates a work environment that supports team effectiveness. Provides feedback to team members on performance

+ Assist with integration of common tools and techniques.

+ Interface with other disciplines, customers, internal clients, project staff and internal and external experts as required

+ Prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences, including senior management. Adjusts presentation style and content to suit the audience.

+ Negotiate resources, both human and financial.

Expertise and Problem-Solving Duties:

+ Collaborate with multiple areas or multiple project managers on related projects or sub-projects.

+ Develop project specifications and objectives, strategies, timelines and milestones/design and development plan. Utilize project scheduling software to plan and track projects.

+ Identify resource requirements, cost, and time schedules. Develop an implementation plan, conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.

+ Translate project goals into project tasks. Define the nature of the stated business or technical problem.

+ Develop alternatives to business problems. Assist management in selecting the specific action plans that will best meet the identified business issues.

Minimum Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project.

+ PMP Certification or equivalent desired

+ Minimum 7 years of Project Management experience or equivalent as demonstrated by successful project work requiring effective leadership of cross-functional teams

+ Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project. Demonstrated skills in project management tools and processes.

+ Experience in leading cross-functional teams (Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, R&D, etc.) to successfully achieve goals.

Preferred Experience, Education, etc.:

+ 10 years’ R&D Project Management experience from healthcare / medical industry (e.g. manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical products, or similar ).

+ Experience managing multiple, complex, large-scale projects with multi-year life cycle and effectively interacting with cross-functional teams.

+ Strong experience and proficiency with Microsoft Project and Excel.
