Job Description

Responsibilities associated with this position are typically performed in an office setting or designated administrative area and requires occasional visits to additional company facilities, vendor facilities and customer sites. In addition to office related activities, movement through industrial or manufacturing areas is required along with the use of appropriate personal protective wear and consistent observance of established safety policies at all times.

We are currently seeking a mechanical, welding, materials, or software oriented Process Engineer to assist us with meeting current customer requirements as well as to develop and implement continuous process improvements. This individual will be tasked with working with customer provided 3D models and modifying as required followed by producing CNC path and processing information which is used to build the near net shape EBAM preforms. This position requires experience working with 3D CAD systems as well as machine tool programming software. Through hands on process experience this position will also be asked to develop and assist with creating new electromechanical process improvements that enhance the overall EBAM system. We are looking for an individual who is able and willing to become an EBAM process expert who can apply their prior skills with those acquired on the job to provide customer solutions related to additive manufacturing. We are looking for a goal oriented individual who is a self starter that can work equally well independently and as part of a larger design team. Sciaky is currently experiencing a growth stage in both business and technology offerings and this position will be immediately tasked with assisting to bring R&D stage designs to a production ready level. Job Skills & Level of Experience Required

• Welding / Additive Manufacturing (AM) Technology – Experience with AM systems, electron beam welding, and/or gas tungsten/plasma arc/laser processes, with a fundamental metallurgical knowledge preferred

• Design experience using 3D CAD systems such as Siemens NX or Autodesk preferred

• Additive Mfg. model cleanup and path planning experience preferred

• Writing – Excellent writing skills with a strong emphasis on welding and additive technology and related technologies using MS Office applications

• Project Management -Good communication and organizational skills. Effective at team management, project discovery and planning

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Specific Job Skills & Level of Experience Preferred

Mechanical Engineering:

• Fundamental design ability using 3D CAD tools, familiarity with a variety of metalworking manufacturing processes and associated tolerances (DFM)

• Mechantronics design and assembly experience using components associated with precision motion systems, vision systems, temperature sensors, etc.

• Thermodynamic, structural, and fluid flow analysis and simulation experience using FEA/Multi-physics tools is a plus.

• Weld tooling and fixturing design experience

• Familiarity with non-destructive testing systems and techniques such as radiography, ultrasonic, and computed tomography a plus

Welding Engineering:

• Familiarity with Electron Beam (EBW), Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW), Plasma Arc (PAW), Laser Beam (LBW), or Gas Metal Arc (GMAW)

• Developing parameters using automated, robotic, CNC, or semi-automated equipment

• Offline programming experience using CAD/CAM tools

• Weld tooling and fixturing design experience with consideration for accounting for residial stresses and distortion management

• Fundamental understanding of metalurgy for materials such as titanium and nickel base superalloys

• Familiarity with non-destructive testing systems and techniques such as radiography, ultrasonic, and computed tomography a plus

Material Science:

+ Material Science related experience associated with typical high performance alloys such as titanium and nickel base alloys

+ Understanding and experience associated with thermal heat treatments of materials such as titanium and nickel base alloys

+ Material testing experience including familiarity with mechanical and dynamic test procedures and methods. Familiarity with various analysis techniques related to microstructural and compositional testing preferred.

+ Familiarity with non-destructive testing systems and techniques such as radiography, ultrasonic, and computed tomography a plus

or

Computer Science:

+ Material Science related experience associated with typical high performance alloys such as titanium and nickel base alloys

+ High comfort level using software development tools such as National Instruments Labview and MS Visual Studio

+ Experience with programming industrial control systems using techniques such as structured text (IEC-61131-3) or ladder logic

+ Programming languages & packages associated with data science, such as C, Fortran, Python, TCL/Tk, Tensorflow, Labview, OpenCV

+ Mechatronics experience designing, building and programming computer driven systems associated with motion, computer vision, and sensor implementations

+ Applied software skills toward working with automating CAD/CAM Modeling

+ Experience with 3D visualization of both geometry and acquired data
