How you will make an impact

The individual will work with R&D, Marketing, Operations and Project Management on new product development, existing product improvement, process validation, test method validation and raw material qualifications within a specialized area/technology.

What you will do

+ Perform validation work in specialized area/technology (e.g., Immunoassays, mass spectrometry, organic synthesis, biochemistry).

+ Perform basic laboratory experiments required for validating manufacturing processes and test methods (may include Liquid Chromatography, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, ELISA, Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Infrared Spectroscopy, UV/Vis Spectrophotometry, Cell Culture).

+ Experience in troubleshooting issues related to manufacturing and/or testing products within a specialized area/technology

+ Ability to learn how to apply statistical methods and use statistical software.

+ Ability to effectively communicate and document experimental results.

+ Ability to develop experimental plans and write validation plans and reports within a specialized area/technology.

+ Draft product related documentation (e.g., incoming specification sheets, Batch Record Sheets, Bills of Material).

+ Maintain an audit-ready work environment and detailed laboratory notebooks.

+ Assist manufacturing groups in troubleshooting problems.

How you will get here

Education, Experience, and Abilities

+ Education: Bachelors (B.S.) degree

+ Experience: 3 years laboratory experience in chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology or related field

+ Experience with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn other statistical software platforms.

+ Ability to perform experiments with limited instructions or guidance.

+ Ability to lift up-to 20 pounds

+ Minimum business travel may be required (< 5% time)

+ Hazardous Waste Generation/Management: Associates in this position may, as part of their job activities, generate or manage hazardous waste as defined by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Individuals in this position are required to receive initial hazardous waste training within the first 30 working days of assignment. The initial waste training shall include but not be limited to the following general categories: Identifying hazardous and solid waste, hazardous waste management, recycling, treatment and disposal, emergency preparedness, record keeping, pollution prevention and waste reduction. Following initial training the Associate in this position will receive annual refresher training in the same topic field as listed above. Associate should be comfortable working frequently with organics, including flammable solvents, strong acids / bases, potential biohazards (including raw animal serums), large scale bacterial cultures, and hazardous chemicals.
