The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA) is a first assistant for surgical procedures. They are responsible for the care of the patient under the direction of the surgeon. They collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to create effective patient care for our surgical patients. While in the role of Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant, the Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant does not function concurrently as the scrub technologist. The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant provides leadership by working cooperatively with all medical center staff and works to maintain standards of professional practice.
Completion of high school or equivalent education and computer experience.
Professional knowledge of surgical technology as required through completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent required.
2 years experience in the OR.
Licensed Certified Surgical Technology First Assistantin the State of Illinois
Graduate of a formal Surgical Assistant Certificate orDegree Program that is CAAHEP accredited and/or approved by the ABSA, NSAA, orNBSTSA certifying agencies.
Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent.
Manual dexterity required to handle instruments and retractors.
