Job Description

Flextronics International USA, Inc. seeks Automation Engineer in Buffalo Grove, IL: Responsible for specifying, designing, commissioning and validation of new automation equipment and associated tooling and applications in a Class III medical device environment. Responsible for troubleshooting, improving performance and maintaining existing medical device automation equipment. Responsible for layout and design of equipment and tooling using 2D and 3D CAD applications such as AutoCad and SolidWorks. Reviews internal and vendor designs/layouts for conformance to specifications, code requirements and process flow needs. Perform or contribute to process and equipment Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential sources of product quality, machine reliability and operator safety issues. Assesses and prioritizes risk, identifies and implements plans to mitigate risk. Responsible for assuring the site is prepared for installation of equipment, works with facilities, maintenance and equipment manufacturer to assure correct utilities are available and site is prepared for equipment installation. Works with maintenance and equipment manufacturer to facilitate installation, debug of equipment and testing of equipment. Contribute to and review validation protocols with respect to technical information required, procedures for process challenge runs and development of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) procedures.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline, or foreign equivalent, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a closely related engineering-automation, manufacturing engineering, or controls engineering position.

Special Requirements: Experience must include 3 years in the following: 1) Project Management; 2) Troubleshooting Automated systems; 3) 2 Dimensional Computer Aided Design in AutoCad; 4) 3-Dimensional Computer Aided Design in SolidWorks; and, 5) Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

Background checks may be required. 20% domestic travel required.
