Global Director of Total Quality


About the Position

The Global Director of Total Quality drives the transformation of quality performance. This role is expected to define the standard to which Selig will operate. The Global Director of Total Quality will plan, direct, implement and administer a common corporate quality system across all Selig sites to deliver improvements in the companys total quality and a reduction of waste.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work in accordance with safety guidelines

  • Make sure all procedures are up to date and trained, all company policies are communicated
  • Establish policy and process verification for the supplier auditing program
  • Operate as the senior interface for quality matters between Selig and its customers and suppliers

  • Implement and report monthly SPIs and KPIs

  • Drives continuous improvement in the Root Cause Investigation Process

  • Direct responsibility for Seligs quality organization

  • Reduce waste and process variation across the organization
  • Implement and utilize Six Sigma and/or Lean techniques to drive improvements

  • Reduce customer complaint rates and the total cost of quality

  • Create, implement and improve Seligs quality management systems

  • Develop a meaningful succession plan for the quality organization globally

  • Responsible for training and development within areas of control

  • Establish the resource requirements to deliver the functional strategic objectives
  • Develop and manage the budget for the global quality organization


Education/Certification Requirements

  • A bachelors degree required
  • Degree concentration in a scientific, engineering or related field is desired

  • Accredited qualification in Total Quality Management is desired

  • Six Sigma Black Belt and cGMP certification is desired


Essential Skills/Characteristics Required

  • A clearly proven ability to perform the duties based on prior performance / experience

  • High level of integrity and safety
  • Prior experience/responsibility for multiple sites in the packaging industry

  • Minimum of 10 years experience working in a quality environment

  • Minimum of 5 years experience directly leading people

  • Desire to rapidly learn Seligs business and contribute to the companys success
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, project management, change management and teamwork experience

  • Track record of relationship building capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to operate without a high level of supervision
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering improvements

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, particularly those outside areas of control

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite

  • Domestic and international travel to customers, suppliers and Selig locations; estimated 10-25%


Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience in flexible packaging and lamination technologies

  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food products

  • Expertise with polymers, adhesives, coatings and specialty chemical materials

  • Demonstrated track record of working within an international organization

  • Prior experience with regulatory compliance and product safety

  • Working knowledge of Infor Syteline ERP



The Global Director of Total Quality will be located at Seligs largest facility located in Forrest, Illinois.


The Relationships

The Global Director of Total Quality reports directly to Seligs Vice President, Technology in Forrest, Illinois. The Quality Managers at Seligs two manufacturing plants in North America report directly to the Global Director of Total Quality and the Quality Managers at Seligs two manufacturing plants in Europe report on a dotted line basis to the Global Director of Total Quality.
