Duties and Responsibilities

Loyola Genomics Core Facility (LGF)
The lab work at the LGF will require the development of advanced benchwork skills through discipline, focus, and composure. It requires work with very small volumes of liquids of varying viscosity, highly sensitive machines sometimes working at their detection limits, and many genetically engineered enzymes that must be stored and used correctly in order to prevent the loss of efficacy.
The LGF provides services to scientists both at Loyola and external institutions, which positions the lab at the intersection of research and industry. A portion of the work involves validated protocols where reproducibility is a must. Other projects involve validation of protocols at the cutting edge of genomics. These experiments will be carried out as instructed by the Genomics Specialist.
