Job Summary

College of Lake County is looking for an Adjunct Faculty member in it’s Fire Science Technology department. They will teach classes in Fire Science Technology with a focus on a Hazardous Materials in class.

Required Qualification

Associates degree in Fire Science, or related discipline and ten (10) or more years of experience as a fire department officer and certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, Division of Personnel Standards and Education at the Advanced Firefighter and Instructor II level, and other specialty certification required for providing firefighter training; OR
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, or related discipline and seven (7) or more years of experience as a fire department officer and certified by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, Division of Personnel Standards and Education at the Advanced Firefighter and Instructor II level, and other specialty certification required as may be required for providing firefighter training; OR
Master’s degree in Fire Science, or related discipline and five (5) or more years of experience as a fire department officer and certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office, Division of Personnel Standards and Education at the Advanced Firefighter and Instructor II level, and other specialty certification as my be required to provide firefighter training.

Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
