Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as
performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments.

Cabot Microelectronics Corporation has an opening for a Maintenance Technician II located in Aurora, Illinois, which provides a career opportunity for qualified individuals. This role will be for 2nd shift, and normal working hours will be 2:30pm to 10:30pm. Overtime may be required based on business need (i.e. to maintain production schedule, emergencies, etc.).

The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for process and facilities maintenance at all Aurora sites.

The major responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician are:

Maintenance for Production and Facilities – 100%

Perform mechanical installations and repairs for manufacturing, clean room and facilities.

Equipment includes pumps and piping distribution systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, tanks, agitators, packaging / conveyor systems, and utility systems (such as air compressors, driers and chillers). The technician should be familiar with safety requirements such as LOTO, confined space entry, hot work permits, and other safety protocols used in manufacturing facilities. Daily duties include quickly responding to and resolving mechanical breakdowns, ensuring accurate operation of utility equipment, performing preventative maintenance tasks, completing work orders and improvement projects, and recording all activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The technician is required to be on call to respond to breakdowns and other issues that occur outside of their normal shift. The technician shall identify / lead medium-sized Continuous Improvement projects.

Required Qualifications:

Technical -

  • Proven skills to use various testing devices and tools for troubleshooting, installing and repairing of motor control circuits, PLC hardware, instrumentation, I/O network cabling, VFDs and other electrical equipment.
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and basic electrical safety.
  • IBEW and/or electrical license is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic PC skills including MS Word, MS Excel and Oracle eAM is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and other technical diagrams to install electrical equipment.
  • Other desired equipment repair/troubleshooting skills include air diaphragm pumps, conveying/material handling equipment, and experience with instrumentation calibration.

Behavioral – Must be capable of working independently and as a contributing Team member while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Education – HS/GED required or Trade School degree

Experience – Five or more years manufacturing maintenance experience required.

Physical – Requires manual lifting of up to 45 lbs., ability to wear respirator and physically capable to execute tank/vessel entries.
