LLCC is looking for a full-time, tenure track nursing instructor for the Practical Nurse Program in Jacksonville, Illinois beginning spring semester of 2021. The position consists of classroom instruction at the college level as well as clinical teaching in Jacksonville and at health care facilities in the surrounding community.
Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours per semester of assigned classes, skills lab activities and clinical; preparing lessons and course syllabi; evaluating and assisting students; keeping accurate records of student performance, including following grading procedures; providing students with timely feedback; maintaining office hours; participating in departmental/institutional operations and program review; creating a learning environment that fosters student success; developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation; and contributing to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
A master’s degree in Nursing (candidate can be in the active process of pursuing the master’s degree) is required along with recent clinical experience. Current Illinois license as a registered nurse or be eligible to apply for one. The candidate for this position needs to have the ability and interest in teaching the full range of Nursing. Teaching experience, especially at a community college, is beneficial. Teaching hours will be primarily in the evening. Instructors must be willing to work wherever needed within the LLCC district.
The Department of Health Professions-Nursing consists of 26 full-time faculty. The Practical Nursing Program and the Associate Degree nursing programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The Dean of Health Professions, who reports to the Vice President of Academic Services, heads the Department.
LLCC is seeking innovative instructors who place student success and student learning as top priorities. The College is particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate an interest in active learning approaches, student assessment techniques and utilizing technology in the classroom. The College is also interested in individuals with a commitment to departmental, institutional and community service. Instructors are expected to learn and use computer assisted programs for presenting lecture material.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen. Salary will be determined by education level and experience and will be between $43,440 and $82,229 annually. The College provides an excellent fringe benefit package and is supportive of faculty development. Opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments.
