Job Summary

College of Lake County is seeking an Adjunct Faculty for Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education.

Required Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Adult Education, Development Education, English, Reading, Social Science, Special Education, or Mathematics, or the equivalent.

Basic computer literacy skills, word processing, internet use, and email.

Two years’ experience teaching basic skills (reading, writing, and math)to under-educated, at-risk, and multi-cultural adult or alternative high school populations with an emphasis on teaching reading, math, and basic computer literacy skills.

Must be available to teach at all campuses and community sites.

Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in Adult Education, Special Education, English, Reading, Math, or Developmental Education.

Bilingual proficiency.

Please note courses may be taught at Grayslake, Lakeshore, Southlake, and/ or extension site locations.
