The Rush University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (RADC) is leading experimental and epidemiological center for the study of Alzheimer’s disease, which has no preventative drugs, and is expected to soon triple in incidence. Over the past two decades, the RADC has carried out numerous community-based cohort studies to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and aging.

RADC is currently seeking an experienced Statistician 1 candidate to join their dynamic team.

Position Summary :

This position performs statistical analyses and writes reports summarizing those results. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

+ Develops and documents computer programs that summarize, describe and analyze scientific data concerning topics in the biomedical and social sciences.

+ Writes and runs programs to provide descriptive summaries of database files, including frequencies, lists and plots; examine data to identify potential data inconsistencies.

+ Develops, runs, and maintains programs to perform statistical analyses of biomedical data. Types of data to be analyzed include categorical, longitudinal and censored failure-time data. Statistical methods employed will include survival analyses, generalized linear modeling, nonparametric methods and graphical analyses.

+ Documents all datasets, programs and program output clearly to facilitate their interpretation and general use by other data management staff and research investigators.

+ Participates in meetings with research investigators and staff to ensure accuracy and clarity.

+ Prepares clear written summaries of analyses to facilitate their use by other data management staff as well as research investigators and staff.

+ Creates SAS programs linking Medicare claims to RADC cohort data, to include construction of derived, standardized and composite variables from claims data for use in analyses. This will involve the creation and testing of batch programs and algorithms in SAS.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Required Position Qualifications:

+ Master’s degree in Biostatistics or Statistics.

+ 2 year of experienceperforming statistical analysis of biomedical or social science data.

+ Knowledge with linear and logistic regression, longitudinal analysis and survival analysis methods.

+ Strong analytical skills.

+ Familiarity with claims data, especially Medicare research identifiable files preferred.

+ Proficiency with SAS programming. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).

+ Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

+ Detailed oriented and careful attention to accuracy.

+ Ability to function effectively within a team environment.

+ Self-directed. Must be able to work independently.

+ Able to prioritize workload and be self-directed.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

+ Knowledge or experience working with EHR data, big data, and cloud computing services.

+ Health Services research degree or research experience desirable

+ Familiarity with claims data, especially Medicare research identifiable files preferred.

+ Experience working with claims data linked to other data desirable.
