Leica is looking for a self-motivated, results oriented and forward-thinking accountant to support the Manager and Finance Director in carrying out the responsibilities of the shared Finance & Accounting Department. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop quickly through challenging responsibilities and assignments supported by a group of strong & dedicated professionals. It is an ideal role for an individual who is interested entering the broader Danaher family and motivated to progress in their career in the finance group, including roles in financial planning & analysis and controllership.
The accounting manager will: Be responsible for general accounting for US and Canada to include month-end close, entry preparation, reconciliations, support audit request, and GAAP reporting, as required. Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with company policy; review, investigate, and resolve accounting errors, discrepancies, and reconciling items. Prepare financial statements and reports, analyze costs, interpret and analyze financial records. Apply principles of accounting in analyzing financial information in preparing monthly internal reports. Drive continuous improvement by automating, refining, and implementing processes, software tools, and deliverables both within Finance & Accounting and supporting business functions. Submit recommendations for improving the Company’s accounting processes and help lead process improvement initiatives to gain efficiencies and reduce waste. Implement technology and process automation across the company. Interact with the various departments throughout the company. Take on new responsibilities, special projects, ad-hoc reports, and analysis, as required and as business needs change.
+ Manage monthly accounting close activities, including analyzing variances, tracking extraordinary spend, and ensuring proper period cut-off for activities
+ Manage day-to-day of general ledger activities, intercompany, and sales tax
+ Run monthly account reconciliation process with knowledge of how to review and requirements of reconciliations to meet SOX requirements
+ Assist with preparing tax packages and Corporate reporting requirements
+ Assist in handling the annual audits (internal and external) and annual SOX testing; follow-up on assigned outstanding items for auditors
+ Assist with the annual physical inventory process
+ Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls; Identify gaps in control design and operating effectiveness and assist management with identification of process issues and the development of remediation plans
+ Support management through data collection, analysis and special projects
+ Challenge the status quo, elevate issues and keep supervisor advised of current and evolving matters
+ Leverage technology in day-to-day work and promote automation
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is required.
+ CPA and/or public accounting experience is highly preferred
+ 3-5+ years related experience in an accounting role; working in multinational company environment and/or audit or public accounting is required.
+ Sharp analytical skills, a flexible attitude, and excellent communication skills is required.
+ Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals required, knowledge of U.S. GAAP, experience with SOX controls are required
+ Desired software expertise: SAP, Blackline is preferred.
