Job Description

Job Summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Digital Products team is responsible for building and maintaining NorthShore’s digital front door, driving consumer engagement, conversion and brand preference. The Assistant Vice President, Digital Product Management and Strategy reports to the Senior Vice President of Health Information Technology and will partner closely with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Patient Experience Officer and the Provider Engagement Officer to define and implement the overarching strategy for how patients find and engage with our organization.

Essential Job Functions

Innovation

  • Recommend innovative and cost-effective solutions
  • In coordination with SVP drive understanding, adoption and coordination of next-gen data and digital technologies across the organization
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize business cases for new business opportunities
  • Participates in the ongoing process to identify and prioritize business processes that can be converted to digital to enhance the patient experience and become a trusted partner in the management and delivery of their care

Strategy & Execution

  • In coordination with SVP responsible for end-to-end strategy, design and implementation of the organization’s digital roadmap
  • Set the strategy for core digital developments in the marketplace and have a strong point of view of opportunity/impact for meeting business goals
  • Implement overarching digital strategy across all customer segments, moving customers from offline to online
  • Manage the digital project portfolio
  • Review, analyze and recommend system features and solutions
  • Connect digital investments to the organization’s goals and objectives to achieve positive digital transformation

Governance

  • Participate in applicable governance and project status review meetings
  • Verify systems and practices are compliant to internal and external specification
  • Budget planning and tracking for the digital initiatives in the HIT department

Collaboration

  • Engage business and process owners and lead the collaborative planning effort to leverage emerging technologies for addressing strategic organization goals
  • Support thought leadership to develop view points on digital trends
  • Communicate development progress and associated business projects and plans to senior leadership
  • Establish strong working relationships with senior business, operations and technology leaders in the capacity of a trusted advisor
  • Leverage cross-functional teams to drive digital, product and consumer strategies
  • Participate in project planning during all phases of the project life cycle as needed
  • Maintain relationships with appropriate technology partners (internal and external) in developing, deploying and supporting technical solutions

Team Oversight

  • Develop strategies to attract, retain and build top talent in the digital space
  • Responsible for a team of digital experts who will lead, partner with operational departments, and implement digital solutions.
  • Lead a team of developers and testers through an Agile and DevOps process that includes continuous integration, testing and delivery
  • Lead a group of Agile teams dedicated to pushing the limits of continuous improvement and innovation

Minimum Formal Education Required

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Bachelors Degree required

License and/or Certification Required

  • PSM, PSPO, PSD or PAL preferred

Minimum Length and Nature of Experience Required

  • 10+ years in digital leadership, leading cross-function teams
  • 1+ years in developing and scaling consumer-facing digital solutions and experience models

Special Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Must be able to drive people, process and technology change effectively in a dynamic and complex operating environment
  • Experience with API gateways
  • Proven ability to clearly execute a high-level vision and direction through leaders and employees
  • Expertise building Agile delivery teams, methods and measurements
  • Strong organization architecture experience, particularly application integration and cloud architecture
  • Proven record of strong leadership with high team engagement
  • Strong analytics experience – big data & next gen technologies, data science – machine learning
  • A history of using technology to enable and drive business value
  • Strong focus on scalability, maintainability, testability, security and performance
  • Strategic thinker and well versed with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills at various levels of audience
  • Creative problem solver who can think “out of the box” with strong business acumen
  • Passionate about technology and excited about the impact of disruptive technologies
  • Creative and innovative user-centric mindset
