Job Description

The Director Power Grid Automation Strategy is responsible for developing and executing G&W’s global strategy for the Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation businesses enabling G&W to be an industry leader in these segments.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Architect and drive the Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation product strategies to position the businesses for incremental and sustained success.
  • Lead strategic planning, business development, and key initiatives for the Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation businesses across all sales and distribution channels utilizing resources from Product Management, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Lead, develop and partner with cross-functional leaders in Power Grid Automation, Product Line Management, Sales, and Technology Research to drive a unified vision and strategy for the Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation segments.
  • Develop synergies between these product lines to leverage G&W technologies into solutions-based offerings.
  • Develop & integrate consistency across multiple dimensions of Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation product strategies in the areas of sales, marketing, pricing, product-to-market, client acquisition/retention etc. and enable capabilities such as data analytics and predictive modeling.
  • Lead competitive assessments to identify regional and global market trends for development and monitoring competitive landscape. Initiate, direct, and leverage market research for a global market. Research global competitive movement and develop and recommend strategic countermeasures to overcome competitive threats and understand competitive weaknesses in order to identify opportunities and develop and recommend strategies to grow market share.
  • Develop a comprehensive customer segmentation model that drives how we bring value to different customer segments
  • Develop the product vision, product roadmap, identify key problems to be solved, and identify new products for development based on market needs and business goals.
  • Champion innovation, seek learnings from other brands, and other industries to innovate our go-to-market approach beyond existing solutions. Identify, maintain and enhance strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and professional associations.
  • Identify partnerships, joint ventures or acquisition opportunities to fill gaps in our solutions offering. Use Make/ Buy analysis to identify opportunities to leverage G&W’s core competencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years in a product marketing, product development, business development, and strategy development roles specific to Sensors, Relays and Controls, and Power Grid Automation solutions.
  • At least 7 years in a strategy development role with progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and proven history of strategic development in a new space with consistent sales and market share growth.
  • Proven history of commercially successful product innovation.
  • Strong strategic skills with ability and vision to map out “future state” business processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Utility and Commercial/Industrial markets and customers.
  • Substantial international experience.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

  • General Office Environment, PC use
