Candidate Responsibilities

This job opening is for an electrical component support engineer. The support engineer will be responsible for coordinating the verification & validation activities for new and current production Telematics components. The candidate will work closely with the design team to develop the Design Verification Plan (DVP) and perform the required test activities. Incumbents will be responsible for documenting test results and communicating them to the development teams. Incumbents will also be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of test activities with internal and external test resources.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

1. Coordination of the validation and verification activities for new electronic components
2. Perform the required test activities using development tools
3. Document test results and communicate (report out) them to the development team
4. Coordinate the scheduling of test activities with internal and external test resources
5. Support current production designs including quality improvements, cost reduction, component obsolescence and failure analysis
6. Evaluate Field return failed units and update SEAFOAM
7. Participate with product teams on design development activities (Electrical design reviews)
8. Support section efficiency, CPI, APQP and other initiatives

Typical Day

Work in a team environment to identify test cases
Testing all aspects of the product like function, performance, regression
Setting up the test environments, designing test plans, developing test cases/scenarios/use cases and executing these cases.
Running tests correctly and consistently

Education Requirement

Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical) plus 3-5 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development or a master’s degree in an Electrical or Computer Engineering curriculum plus 1-3 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development.

Technical Skills Required

Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. Good working knowledge with basic electronic test equipment such as DVMs, Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies is required Familiar with root cause/troubleshooting techniques for electronic assemblies. Familiarity with electronic assembly and soldering of components is preferred.

Soft Skills Required

Good documentation and presentation skills using MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Ability to communicate technical information effectively. Good organization skills and detail-oriented.
