Job Description

Essential Functions* of the position are detailed below and include any physical requirements checked below:1. Welcomes and processes new participants in the congregate dining program.2. Establishes delivery routes for all clients residing in the service region, and assures that all drivers meet professional standards and ensures meals are handled, delivered and served in accordance with safe food handling guidelines.3. Deliver meals to sites and/or homes in accordance to the route sheet and is responsible to review route sheet each day to verify if any new clients received or any clients removed from route.4. Conducts well-being checks on seniors when delivering meals and reports any changes in seniors’ physical or mental status to the Nutrition Program Coordinator or the Nutrition Program Manager immediately.5. Assists with the packaging of the meals and supplies as well as other food preparation needs as necessary.6. Assists coworkers and kitchen staff with the loading/unloading of meals to the delivery vehicles according to route requirements.7. Responsible for maintaining, updating and submitting routine and ad-hoc reports, as necessary.8. Completes all required documentation in accordance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies.9. Ensures receipt of correct number of meals.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant Education:Preferred: Associate’s Degree Minimum: High SchoolRelevant Experience:Preferred: 3 Years food handling, nutrition or public healthMinimum: 1 Year food handling, nutrition or public healthCertification/Licensure:Preferred: City of Chicago and State of Illinois Food Service Certification. Minimum: Must obtain City of Chicago and State of Illinois Food Service Certification within six months of hire.
