Job Description

Responsible for cutting our printed paper and plastic signage to size by setting up and operating cutting and finishing machines in our graphic finishing department. Flexibility is key, and in this role you’ll learn how to operate state-of-the-art digital die cutting and router machines. We have (3) Zund D3 dual beam finishing machines, (1) Zund S3, and an Esko Kongsberg XP24. You’ll setup and operate the equipment according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety, and quality guidelines. Finishing operators will also operate guillotine paper cutters and work in our fulfillment departments as needed.

Duties include:

Setup and operate digital die-cutting and router cutting presses such as Zund D3, Zund S3, or Esko Kongsberg XP. These machines run similarly to a CNC press.
Make adjustments to cutting file in Zund Cut Center or Esko iCut software programs to optimize speed, registration, and quality.
While efficiently operating equipment, must consistently watch for quality concerns, clean finished parts before shipping, as well as package job as speed allows.
Accurately interpret, document and communicate diagnostic feedback from equipment and act upon information to resolve production, maintenance and repair issues.
Safely, move materials and completed parts to appropriate locations via forklift.
Perform routine QC checks throughout production run to proofs, job ticket, and previously saved parts.
Package finished parts safely in cartons or pallet depending on need.
Read and understand job tickets thoroughly.
Measure parts using calipers, measuring tape, and precision pins and compare to blueprints or sample parts.
Complete required paperwork and quality assurance documents for jobs.
Clean up work area and machines as needed.
Perform routine maintenance on machine as required.
Follow and comply with all safety rules and policies.
Communicate and follow direction from Supervisor.
Help in other areas of business as needed such as fulfillment packing, guillotine cutting, lamination, or printing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Experience working within a sign shop or printing environment with exposure to laminating, attention to detail, plotter cutting, graphic printing, or guillotine cutting is a major plus.
Ideal candidate would have 1-2 years graphic finishing experience.
Technical familiarity of Esko Kongsberg equipment / iCut software, Zund equipment / Zund Cut Center is a major plus.
High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Candidate must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
Must have good judgement of acceptability of print and cutting quality.
Must practice sound logic and reasoning.
Must have strong skills in work planning.
Must be able to stand all day.
LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures, blueprints, job instructions. Must be able to comprehend instructions and information in English. Must be able to respond to questions from managers, peers, and subordinates. Must be familiar with simple operation of a computer.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, decimals, ratios, and proportions to practical situations of printing and cutting jobs. Ability to apply time to evaluate job performance or expected completion times.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply cause and effect analysis to troubleshoot problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee constantly is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms for several hours at a time. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

HOURS

We are seeking help for first or second shift.

1st Shift = 7:00AM to 3:15PM (Monday – Friday) = 5 × 8 hour days
2nd Shift = 3:00PM to 1:00AM (Monday – Thursday) = 4 × 10 hour days!
