Job Description

Description:
The Shield IL team seeks Quality Assurance Specialists who will manage, sort and prepare specimens from client sites to laboratories at the SHIELD Depot in Darien Illinois. Within this facility, saliva samples will be delivered from client sites, batched and consolidated, and then shipped to available molecular diagnostic labs within the SHIELD network.

Duties:
Greet delivery drivers and assist in unloading any specimens
Check-in, input and process all COVID specimens delivered to depot in triple closed containers from client sites using dedicated software to track specimens.
Prepare specimens for transport to molecular diagnostic laboratories for testing and ensure tracking via dedicated software
Ensure quality of specimens
Dispose of properly labeled bio-hazardous materials, according to regulation, clean and disinfect work spaces regularly
Prepare any medical supplies for transport to client sites or to numerous locations as needed
Safely handle potentially infectious specimens
Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma/equivalent or higher

Required:
1. Able to work in Darien, Illinois
2. Able to work 20 hours or more per week
3. Able to work during M-F
4. Able to work shifts of 4 hours or longer
5. Willing to work the same shifts each week (schedules do not change on a weekly basis)
6. Strong communication skills; verbal or written
7. Ability to work on a team
8. Computer skills or willingness to learn
9. Ability to lift larger packages of 30 lbs or less
10. Willingness to wear PPE while working indoors and maintain proper sanitation requirements
11. Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
12. Willingness to test daily for the safety of our teams; saliva based test, non-invasive

Preferred:
1. Interest in a Healthcare field

Pay rate: $20-$26/hr
Schedule: flexible, up to 40 hrs/wk
Locations: Darien, IL

This is a temporary, hourly, non-benefit eligible position.
