Job Description

Grubhub Holdings, Inc. seeks Manager, Engineering in Chicago, IL.

Duties: Lead and coach a team of senior and junior engineers tasked with delivering flexible and scalable features to Grubhub restaurants. Craft a meaningful vision for the team, working in concert with product managers and other multi-location technology teams. Guide the team as you build out features across many services that impact many of the Grubhub brands. Work with product and business leaders to determine the roadmap and build deliverables and timelines. Build and utilize metrics to analyze features as they are deployed to Production to ensure they are functioning as expected and properly alerting when necessary. Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies. Teams Managed can include individuals in the roles of Software Engineer I, Software Engineer II. Senior Software Engineer, and Manager, Engineering. Telecommuting permitted.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, IT Management, or related plus 7 years of experience in related roles. Requires 2 years of experience in technical leadership responsibilities. Requires 7 years of experience in Using at least one of the following: Java, .Net, C#, C++, PHP, Ruby, Python, Scala, Javascript, Perl, SWIFT, or Objective-C; Modern unit testing and version control, and with Agile software development practices; Using at least one of the following database technologies: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Timesten, Elasticserach, or Sybase; and Building highly-scalable applications.
