Position Summary: Utilizes current nursing practices to provide care to pacemaker patients while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying the service excellence goals of care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a contributing member of a health care team, develops and provides a comprehensive plan of care for assigned patients. Recognizes and consistently applies knowledge of Loyola’s 14 Magnet Forces. II. Position Responsibilities: No. Percent of Time Essential Duty Job Duties 1 40% Yes Patient Care & Assessment – Clarifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by administering medications and performing treatments and testing as prescribed by the physician, and documents accordingly (Magnet Force #12). Recognizes symptoms and establishes priorities consistent with patient’s condition (Magnet Force #9). Documents ongoing assessments of patient’s physical and emotional status in order to address patient needs appropriately (Magnet Force #‘s 5,6). Demonstrates mastery of required unit-based competencies and orientation goals. 2 20% Yes Plan of Care – Obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Formulates, implements and continually revises patient plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient, information acquired from patient’s database, and resources within the medical center (Magnet Force #‘s 2,6). Collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care (Magnet Force #13). 3 20% Yes Communication – Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights (Magnet Force #’s 3,8,13). 4 10% Yes Discharge Planning – Reviews and evaluates discharge plans with the multidisciplinary teams, the patient, and family to promote timely and appropriate discharge (Magnet Force #‘s 5,10,11,13). 5 5% Yes Quality Improvement – Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes (Magnet Force #’s 1,7). 6 5% Yes Professional Development Activities – Demonstrates accountability for professional growth and job performance by seeking opportunities to enhance job skills and knowledge (Magnet Force #‘s 4,14). Complexity Factor: C Work consists of various duties involving different processes and methods. Factors to be considered differ with each assignment, and elements of the work must be identified and analyzed to determine appropriate action. (Ex. Position Requirements: Minimum Education: Required: Associates Degree Preferred: N/A Specify Degree(s): Associates Degree or Diploma in Nursing Residency: N/A Minimum Experience: Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience Details: Prefer experience with device interogation and programming. Managerial Experience: N/A Licensure/Certifications: Required: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois Preferred: N/A Other: 1.) Specialty certification in a clinical or functional area of nursing granted by a national nursing organization is preferred. 2.) Prior experience in treatment of cardiac arrhythmia disorders and the implantation & routine maintenance of pacemakers is strongly preferred. Computer Skills: Required: Basic Keyboarding Skills Preferred: EPIC Other: Ability to become proficient in EPIC with on-the-job training.
