Terracon is seeking a professional Senior Project Geologist or a Professional Engineer to join our team in Illinois! In this role you will lead teams of experienced environmental professionals, on a major refinery project in southern Illinois, in the planning and implementation of soil, groundwater, non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL), and soil vapor investigations, groundwater monitoring programs, etc., while maintaining Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), preparing reports and providing litigation support.

Managerial and Technical Responsibilities:
+ Will manage a Terracon team of 10 to 15 environmental staff and serve as the primary contact with client and legal counsel.
+ To be successful in this career opportunity, you will need to be detail oriented, strong at multi-tasking, excel in intense client meeting/on-site project situations, follow through on the execution of plans, and a collaborative solution-based mindset.
+ Lead the preparation, oversight, and management of a multi-million-dollar annual budget and update of 40-year cost projections while delivering safe, prosperous growth to our company.
+ Project management tasks include organizing project meetings,, manage technical, budgetary, and administrative tasks relative to the execution of client directed tasks.
+ Continuous monitoring of quality and improved performance on projects complying with Terracon and Client policies and procedures.
+ Support the development of scopes of work for both routine and complex tasks for the project.
+ Will be expected to support client management and client development.
+ Responsible for implementing safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects and participate in pre-task planning meetings.
Requirements: Preferred Certification:
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology or engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical).
+ Minimum 10 years of demonstrated project field and project management related experience.
+ Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Illinois or capable to obtain such license within one year of employment.
+ Working knowledge of Illinois Environmental regulations.
+ Completed OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
+ Strong technical writer
+ Strong client communication skills.
+ Strong team leadership and organizational skills
**Additional knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, and CERCLA regulations preferred, but not required.
