Job Description

The William's Consent Decree program serves adult consumers, new and current, living with chronic mental illness and/or substance use issues. Members are encouraged to attend local drop-in centers. The center provides an environment for individuals to socialize, receive support from peers, and access computers. Clients may be referred by the state, receive assistance in locating housing and be linked to Assertive Community Treatment.  

Key Responsibilities for the Counselor III (CADC) 

  • Responsible for evaluating and assessing clients.
  • Plans and implements a treatment plan with clients on assigned caseload.
  • Conducts individual, group, and family counseling, case management, outreach, education, monitoring, referral, linkage, follow-ups and documentation.

Scheduled Hours: 37.5 hours a week

  • Monday through Friday  (8:30am - 4:30pm)

Essential Functions

  • Maintains regular contact with an active caseload- most of which is conducted in client’s homes and in the community.
  • Provides direct services to clients including individual and group treatment.
  • Consults with the supervisor regarding transfer/placement of a client to another level of service, as needed.
  • Provides atmosphere of customer service in assuring that clients are treated in a friendly and respectful manner. Displays positive attitudes and behaviors in the accomplishment of job duties.
  • Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review and update
  • treatment goals and referrals both internally and externally.
  • Assists clients in obtaining public entitlements, housing, community resources, etc.
  • Attends staffing with Nursing Homes, Court Services, schools, agencies and others, as necessary.
  • Organizes and participates in treatment-related clinical conferences and staffing's on assigned clients.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required

  • Must have certification as an Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) by the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Board (I.A.O.D.A.P.C.A.)
  • Associate’s degree and five (5) years’ experience in behavioral sciences, or
  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience in behavioral sciences, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience in behavioral sciences, or
  • Master’s degree in behavioral sciences and no experience
