Intrinsic Schools is a small charter network that prepares all students for postsecondary success and world-changing endeavors. Intrinsic currently operates two exceptional public high schools open to all Chicago students. Founded in 2013, our Belmont Campus serves 1,000 students in Grades 7-12 in the Hermosa neighborhood. Our Downtown Campus currently serves 600 students in Grades 9-12. Both schools are public schools, with enrollment that is based solely on an open lottery – no tuition, entrance exams or other selective criteria. Our students are 90% students of color, 86% free and reduced lunch and 19% students with disabilities. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY As the Manager of C Day, you will collaborate with school leadership teams to design Choice Day and lead the weekly execution of C Day . On C-Day, students participate in Advisory and follow different schedules based on their needs, interests, and goals. As a result of this experience, students will develop a strong sense of self, feel connected to the school community, leverage resources to meet their academic goals, and explore a variety of interests to discover their passions. The intent of the C Day structure is to:+ Require students to select academic choices and practice taking ownership over their learning
+ Provide flexibility for field trips, college and career visits, guest speakers and other exposure opportunities
+ Provide opportunities for more student extracurricular involvement and leadership during the day
+ Improve students’ executive functioning skills for postsecondary success
+ Increase sense of belonging, positive school culture and strong relationships
+ Provide opportunities for students to take credit-bearing, elective courses
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:+ Design of C Day
+ Communicate the vision of C Day, expectations, and measures of success
+ Work with school leadership teams to create a C Day Master Schedule that aligns to C-day priorities for C Day and unique campus needs (related to space, staffing, etc)
+ Build out semester and year long C Day calendar
+ Create student facing C Day Club Descriptions documents every semester
+ Work with teacher leaders & school leadership teams to build a showcase of learning at the end of each semester (or as determined by school leadership teams)
+ Develop/Adapt staff training materials for summer and launch C Day PD sessions
+ With the leadership teams, refine the C Day Look For Tool and C Day Club Charter
+ Work with teacher leaders to build out normed practices for academic blocks (related to goal setting, planning, and reflection)
+ Organize & regularly update all relevant C Day materials on the each campus’s Google staff site (C Day Page)
+ Execution of C Day
+ Own the scheduling process and communication to students and staff via weekly updates or announcements
+ Build the weekly schedule via Powerschool (Students should select academic offerings bi-weekly)
+ Ensure accuracy with all offerings and master schedule
+ Ensure all students have a schedule 48 hours prior to the C Day
+ Observe components of C Day using the C Day Look For Tool and provide feedback to school leadership teams
+ Attend school leadership team meetings as needed especially before the launch of any new C Day schedule
+ Evaluating Efficacy of C Day Programming
+ Administer surveys toward the end of each C Day semester and summarize insights for students & staff
+ Host focus groups with students & staff to get a holistic view of C Day strengths and areas of improvement
+ Meet with teacher leaders and school leadership teams quarterly to provide insights and capture feedback for improvements
+ Work with the Director of Data to provide insights on what is working and for whom
+ Provide options for solutions for issues related to C Day operations
+ Other C-day Administrative Duties
+ Work with various staff members to organize logistics of other C Day Events (Town Halls, Field Trips, Presentations, etc)
+ Problem solve day of scheduling or space issues
+ Maintain a curated list of partnerships, offering, and budget
+ Design a rubric to evaluate quality of external programming and meet with Senior Leadership Team every semester to share findings
+ Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners
+ Provide coaching and support to staff (especially new staff)
+ Codify knowledge (practices & content) and prepare it for sharing
+ Non-C-day Duties – (should not be more than 25% of time)
+ Manages the logistical elements related to the administration of some assessments (including but not limited to NWEA, IAR, ISA, P/SAT, etc)
+ Plans and coordinates logistics for grade level events (Graduation, 8th Grade Promotion, Academic Banquet, etc)
+ Maintain master event calendar for school and community use
+ Manage Community Service Coordinator
Candidate Qualifications+ Energy for creating innovative, breakthrough new school models that generate unprecedented results for students
+ Excellent relationship-building and oral and written communication skills
+ Highly fluent with google sheets and able to learn and troubleshoot the Powerschool Scheduling tool
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Comfortable in the design of and leading staff training
+ Comfortable presenting to large groups of students
+ Willing to provide feedback to stakeholders as necessary
+ Track record of delivering high-quality work against deadlines
+ Embody a research & development mindset with an eagerness to iterate based on feedback
+ Excellent customer service skill set to meet changing needs of students & staff
Education and Experience Requirements+ Systems-thinker with operations experience especially in scheduling and logistics
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 2+ years teaching experience preferred
