Description
The Corporate Product Safety & Compliance Team is seeking to fill an Sr. Electrification Safety Engineer – Tech Reg Compliance position (SG23). This position will work closely with our Electrification Engineering Specialists to deliver technical support and guidance to various product teams engaged in new product developments driven by the energy transformation (electric drive systems, rechargeable energy storage systems, battery and fuel cell technology and other high voltage applications for mobile machinery and electric power). This position will also have opportunity to engage in related activities supporting international standards development and industry association advocacy.
The incumbent will interface with product group safety and compliance consultants, coordinators, and other engineers responsible for design, development and validation of CAT machinery that is electrically powered and or driven, providing guidance on safe design measures, industry standards and regulatory requirements for global markets.
Primary responsibilities include conducting in-iron and virtual safety reviews, reviewing operations manuals and other compliance related materials, creating guidance documents and other activities supporting new product or technology development programs along with providing support for any safety related continuous improvement programs.
Job Duties
+ Performing product safety reviews in-iron and virtually
+ Contributing to established tools and processes to manage product safety and compliance
+ Reviewing technical publications such as Operations & Maintenance and Special Instructions
+ Reviewing industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements
+ Communicating safety technology and regulatory requirements to team members and clients
+ Supporting and advising other engineers, managers, commercial teams, and customers
+ Representing the company in global standards developing organizations and industry groups
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or similar curriculum, or certified licensed electrician with equivalent engineering work experience
+ 5 years of work experience with high voltage systems or applications
+ Excellent understanding of electrical systems
Top Candidates will also have
+ Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
+ Experience with battery electric vehicles, machinery, or energy storage systems
+ Experience with gensets and other electric power product
+ Strong communication skills and experience performing risk assessments or failure analysis
+ Knowledge of Caterpillar and competitor products and their applications
+ Passion for electrification products

The location for this position is Peoria, IL.
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position may require up to 25% travel.
