Summary of Objective:

Package Design Supervisor would support PCI’s mission to provide the industry leading experience to clients, developing and commercializing solutions to optimize the delivery of lifesaving medicines and support better health outcomes for patients around the world. Reporting to department Director, successful Package Design Supervisor would supervise a team of package designers that support the development and launch of new package designs and existing package enhancements. The incumbent would be responsible for managing the workflow, training new hires, implementing standard work that prevent gaps or downtime while giving instruction to and overseeing the work of Design team members. The Package Design Supervisor would also have project management responsibilities overseeing the development and commercialization of new package designs and lead one or more Design Services offerings. Incumbent would have direct engagement with customers, coordinate with vendors, suppliers and with multiple internal stakeholders to lead design projects from inception through commercialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

+ Effectively supervises daily activities of design team members ensuring project commitments stay on schedule, within budget and deliverables meet required quality standards.

+ Helps create and facilitate training plans for ongoing professional development of design team members.

+ Supports strategy to expand and sustain team core competency levels and fosters SME development culture.

+ Responsible for the development, tracking, and budgeting O&M plan

+ Uses knowledge base to design, specify and implement new packaging designs. Coordinates design and/or develops packaging to extend customer’s product life cycles and/or target marketing objectives.

+ Responsible for meeting team’s operational and financial KPI’s

+ Uses standard methods and procedures to evaluate package designs. Engages customers to assess current packaging systems capabilities and makes recommendations for optimal solutions.

+ Ensures that new packaging designs, existing package improvements, specifications, and materials will conform to current operating methods and packaging machinery.

+ Expected to develop best in class, innovative, patentable package designs; understands current packaging developments in the industry; is aware of the capabilities of the competition and ensures that the packaging design department is positioned to maintain a favorable market position.

+ Works closely in collaboration with functional teams and stakeholders in the development of designs and establishes key deadlines and deliverables including Sales & Marketing, Estimating, Project Management, Purchasing, Engineering, and others.

+ Uses advanced CAD software to design individual packaging components and/or to create complete packaging systems/solutions.

+ Reviews and edits structural elements to ensure that they meet customer requests and PCI operational requirements.

+ Performs prototyping duties in on-site prototyping laboratory, including management of supplies and equipment maintenance.

+ Leads one or more billable design services category: Design Consultation, Conceptualization, Package Development, Sample Preparation and Package Performance Testing.

+ Maintains and tracks digital assets related to packaging design.

+ Supports internal corporate and marketing activities as needed.

+ This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.

+ Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules

+ Attendance to work is an essential function of this position.

Required

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or 7+ years related experience and/or training.

+ 1-2 years of people management/supervisory experience.

+ Basic Mathematical Skills

+ Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.

+ Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.

+ High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization.

+ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.

+ High Standard of Report Writing

+ It is expected Design Supervisor / Project Lead would have completed training for CAD based design software (Solidworks & ArtiosCAD).

+ Expected to be experienced in managing or executing package performance testing activities: Distribution Simulation, Human Factors, Usability, Child Resistance & Adult Friendly testing.
