Job Description

Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional Software Engineer to join its IT Application Development team. This individual’s primary day to day responsibility will be designing, developing, modifying, adapting and implementing short- and long-term solutions to information technology (IT) needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, and network systems and applications infrastructure. In addition, this group reviews system requirements and business processes and codes, tests, debugs and implements software solutions.

The position located in our Chicago office.

+ Support the development of applications, which provide essential solutions for clients; may include debugging current systems or programming simple enhancements

+ Take ownership of tasks as assigned to ensure successful implementation; get support from experienced Software Engineers as needed

+ Work with business representatives and senior Software Engineers to understand business requirements and the reasons for them

+ Assist in developing detailed specs for straightforward fixes and enhancements that are clearly aligned to system requirements as defined by business representatives and can be easily interpreted by the business representatives and other engineers

+ Write code according to specs and maintain continuous integrations and processes

+ May maintain databases used for development and testing, depending on the area and technical specialty

+ Work with business representatives to understand outcomes of testing phase; engage senior Software Engineers as needed to develop solutions

+ Support business representatives and other Software Engineers as needed with implementation and release activities as needed to ensure a successful delivery

+ Apply compliance requirements within scope of responsibility, provide documentation as necessary, and participate in compliance activities as required

+ Monitor system-wide tests to continually improve products, services and processes

+ Monitor the implementation of system improvements and documents results

+ Assist in solving a range of problems within area of expertise and apply known toolkit to new problems

+ Working understanding of generally accepted software development methodologies, tools, and techniques

+ Must have experience in one or more of the following: in C#, SharePoint, SQL server, T-SQL, writing queries, JavaScript, database engineering, service architecture, object relational mappings, scripting, IIS, Azure, DevOps, Angular, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and HTML

+ Prefer some experience in Azure, C#, Angular, Docker and Terraform

+ Prefer a working knowledge of the financial services industry

+ At least 2-4+ years of relevant experience

+ BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.

Annual base salary between $100,000 and $110,000.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
