Job Description The Environmental Laboratory Technician (ELT) for the Login Department receives and logs samples into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), performs laboratory analysis, assembles bottle orders, and disposes completed laboratory samples. The ELT sees projects through to completion and provides excellent customer service when interacting with our clients. Specific Duties of the Position+ Receive samples and accurately enter all data into the LIMS system.
+ Conduct routine preparation, digestion, and sample analysis following official methods and laboratory Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
+ Prepare and properly label reagents and standards.
+ Prepare bottle orders and ship them to clients.
+ Confirm receipt of shipped samples and packages.
+ Communicate effectively with project managers, laboratory staff, and lab managers.
+ Order supplies, verify delivery of orders, and distribute orders to EMT staff.
+ Neutralize and dispose samples in accordance with EMTs safety and waste disposal procedures.
Physical Requirements of the Position+ Must be able to lift/carry heavy equipment, coolers, etc. (up to 50 lbs.).
+ Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
+ Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
+ Must be able to handle environmental samples with strong and unpleasant odors.
+ Must be able to wear all PPE required for the position.
Personal and Professional Credentials+ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field preferred.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
+ Problem solving skills
+ Organized and detail-oriented.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
+ Self-directed and outcome orientated.
