General Description:
The purpose of this position is to assist Field Research Scientists in different aspects of conducting agricultural experiments in the field and greenhouse. Work duties include but are not limited to: measuring and staking out plots, calibrating and applying pesticides, harvesting, plant mapping, data collection, crop planting, transplanting, cultivation, irrigation, applying fertilizer and maintenance pesticides, keeping accurate records of field trials conducted, supporting quality assurance programs, and practicing safe driving and work habits. Operation and maintenece of precision irritgation equipment and agricultural tractors.
Principal Responsibilities:
+ Operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery
+ Maintain records of field operations and equipment maintenance
+ Monitor, maintain and update weather data weekly from the electronic weather station
+ Application of commercially-available and early-stage crop protection products
+ Operation and maintenece of precision irritgation equipment
Qualifications:
+ Typically an Associate’s degree in agriculture, or equivalent, with 2+ years of related experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

+ Physical Demands include constant walking, standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist, simple grasping, power grasping, and fine manipulation with hands, pushing and pulling with hands, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; also frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 lbs., occasional sitting and lifting and carrying of up to 100+ lbs. Travel by air or car up to 75% of the time and will be required to drive safely for long distances.

May be required to work outdoors in an agricultural crop field, assist in putting out demonstration plots, wear respirator and other personal protection equipment.
