We are currently seeking a Staff Test/Reliability Engineer – R&D located in Cary, Illinois

This role will help us take our testing presence to the next level by leveraging test design and development expertise to support Advanced Quality, Product Engineering, and New Product Development projects.

What You Will Do:

+ Possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to design virtual and mechanical test fixtures with input from design teams and support from lab technicians.

+ Provide direction and support to technical personnel with respect to fixture design, fabrication, and data acquisition.

+ Development and execution of test plans with advanced quality, design, and test teams.

+ Work with engineers and technicians to integrate software and hardware portions of test fixtures and data acquisition.

+ Development of test systems and fixtures to support product development.

+ Assist in designing and installing process sampling systems, procedures, statistical techniques, testing mechanisms, and equipment.

+ Assist the design teams in analyzing the acquired data and failures to provide actionable information to help improve design quality and efficiency.

+ Evaluate, recommend, procure and/or maintain various actuation and instrumentation systems, sensors, and other technologies for continuous improvements of testing systems, procedures and techniques.

+ Act as the technical lead for test team members, 3rd party labs, or contractors as necessary.

+ Analyze test data and develop test reports in accordance with company standards.

+ Conduct and/or lead root-cause analysis investigations as necessary in support of product reliability performance enhancement.

+ Serve as an internal expert on test methods, industry standards and regulations, and statistical/reliability tools including design of experiments, measurement system analysis, Weibull analysis, stress and strain analysis, FEA, and other testing/analytical methods as appropriate.

+ Able to work with minimum supervision, conferring with more senior staff on unusual matters.

+ Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.

+ Latitude for unreviewed action or decision

+ Communicates to Manager on progress or outstanding issues.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

+ 4+ years of test method development and validation experience

+ Experience driving requirements development for testing

+ Project / priority management skills

+ Competent in the operation of data acquisition and test control systems

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Automating systems experience

+ Medical device design controls

+ Formulation / chemical engineering

+ Electrical engineering / compliance engineering (IEC 60601-1, etc)

+ Mechanical design experience (CAD)
