job summary:
Wetland Scientist needed in Downers Grover or Downtown Chicago. The Wetland Scientist to perform wetland assessments and delineations, vegetative studies, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, and task management for projects in various industries including renewables, electric and oil/gas transmission and distribution, and transportation. Ideal candidates will havea demonstrated proficiency operating GPS and GIS equipment and experience with field work. Travel up to approximately 50% during the growing season.

responsibilities:
+ Lead wetland delineations within the Midwest (IL, WI, MI, KY, IN) region with potential opportunities to work in other areas of the Country.
+ Collect and analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data using a Global Positioning System (GPS) and ArcGIS software.
+ Prepare and review of wetland delineation reports.
+ Complete permitting under Clean Water Act Sections 401, 404, and 408 as well as state regulations.
+ Assess potential jurisdiction of wetlands and surface waters based on latest regulatory definition of Waters of the US and state guidance.
+ Complete threatened and endangered species reviews and consultations at the federal and state levels.
+ Train/mentor junior staff in wetland delineation methods, plant identification, and permitting.
+ Complete desktop reviews for wetland and surface water resources as well as Farmed Wetland Determinations.
+ Assist with the preparation of cost estimates for wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and wetland permitting.
