POSITION SUMMARY
The Compliance Officer directly shapes the execution of college strategies and serves in a significant advisory capacity on compliance matters across college operations. The position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administrative Servicesand acts as liaison with outside legal counsel.

The Compliance Officer serves as the Title IX Administrator, Ethics Officer, and ADA/Section 504 Coordinator. The Compliance Officer ensures that contracts, policies and procedures comply with local, state and federal laws. The Compliance Officer ensures and provides oversight for equitable treatment of employees and students and the prompt resolution of allegations/charges of Ethics, Title IX, and other similar violations. The Compliance Officer apprises the College President in matters such as College policies and procedures, investigative matters, contracts, and pending litigation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review and research legal and compliance matters, determine risk and liability (monetary and non-monetary) recommend strategy, conduct investigation (if needed) and propose corrective action. Matters include but are not limited to subpoenas, pending litigation, Ethics, First Amendment, Title IX complaints, sexual harassment and discrimination allegations, FERPA, and FOIA requests. Matters may include students or employees.

2. Provide oversight, management, training, and guidance on various investigations.

3. Keep current on the most recent proposed and enacted local, state and federal legislation, statutes, ordinances, etc. that impact the College, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure applicability and compliance in respective operational areas.

4. Assist the Title IX Coordinator by providing services and training programs related to Title IX, sexual harassment and other issues to the College community.

5. Provide process oversight and hear appeals inquiries pertaining to Title IX violations. Responsible for oversight of formal and informal investigations of complaints based on race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, disability, and veteran status, including complaints of sexual harassment and/or sexual assault, as well as grievance related procedures. Monitor a prompt and equitable Title IX investigatory process in cases of sexual misconduct in accordance with College policy.

6. Maintain a case management database to organize, manage, and track ethics and other incidents. Write comprehensive reports of investigations with findings of fact as needed and collaborate and coordinate with outside counsel College-wide or departmental training regarding laws and other compliance issues.

7. Provide oversight for Title IX compliance in all areas of the campus including, athletic participation, treatment in athletic programs, and athletic financial assistance.

8. Serve as primary role in handling dispute resolution, serve as the lead to provide litigation support to outside counsel including but not limited to coordinating, gathering and forwarding internal documents to outside legal counsel.
