Job Description
Grainger Corporate Services LLC is seeking a Quality Engineer with the following duties: Define and lead testing practice in functional area; gain and maintain subject matter expertise by participating in grooming/planning sessions for teams in functional area; partner with Business Analysts, Developers, and Product Managers to design and communicatetest plans, identifying impacts and synergies across domains and facilitate collaboration; Review story documentation to identify testing approaches and create testing tasks with estimates; Perform testing activities when needed including automated test development and exploratory manual testing; Document bugs and verify bug fixes; navigate database technologies; track and act on key quality metrics aligned with achieving goals; Document bugs and verify bug fixes. Perform exploratory, feature, and regression testing. Collaborate with other QA and QEs on approaches and techniques. Use automated testing tools in a continuous integration environment to ensure functionality is meeting acceptance criteria through development iterations. Review and provide feedback on automated tests. Use automation tools to automate test scripts; mentor junior-level Quality Engineers in investigation and test strategy; act as test architect by leading development and maintenance of test strategy inside functional area, ensuring compliance with enterprise strategy; champion Grainger quality strategies like system testability and shift-left testing Review test code developed by test engineers; identify risks or friction in current quality infrastructure (Pipeline, testing gaps, environments, practices, etc.)Leverage root cause analysis to continuously identify risk or opportunities to improve practice; help build Grainger’s engineering community of practice by creating opportunities for learning, building capabilities, sharing knowledge, and reducing duplication of work; act as escalation point for quality issues on team.
