Summary
Internet2 is seeking a Systems and Network Engineer to join our team of IT professionals based in Ann Arbor but will be a hybrid position. This role will complement our existing staff of Systems and Software engineers focused on building, deploying and operating software and services in support of our organization and community.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Services, this role will participate in the 24 x 7 x 365 production operation, administration and management of IT systems and services in support of organizational needs. This includes operating and administering IT systems, networks and services for main and remote offices and teleworkers; the engineering and operation of networks supporting Internet2 Offices, Data Centers, and other venues as necessary; the deployment and operation of servers, devices and facilities both on-prem and in cloud infrastructure; the operation of applications and services on local hardware and running as cloud applications; responsible for network infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, SMPT, and LDAP; ensuring the IT environment is capable, reliable, secure, and resilient; explore and recommend new technologies or methodologies to maximize automation, minimize downtime and improve the recovery time from outages.
Primary responsibilities will include: the production operation, administration and management of IT systems and services running as network appliances, stand-alone servers, VMware environments, and cloud infrastructure and applications; the production operation of Routers, Switches, WLAN, Firewalls and VPN concentrators in support of local and remote offices and data centers; Operation and administration of Identity, authentication and authorization services in support of Internet2 staff and community users; operate and administer DNS, DNSSEC, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, SSL, SSH, and other infrastructure services; Operation of data backup services; operation of system monitoring and reporting systems; the production operation of Routers, Switches, WLAN, Firewalls and VPN concentrators.
Qualifications and Skills.
- BS in Computer Science or similar combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in production computing systems operations in an IT organization.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in computer operations as a systems and network administrator or engineer.
