Job Description
Job Responsibilities30% 1. Under administrative direction, serves as a Senior Database Administrator performing highly complex professional and advisory functions in the Information Technology area of Database Management for the Department of Innovation Technology supporting Department of Public Health (DoIT/DPH):
• Performs complex and specialized development and analysis functions
• Develops Project Plans, Database relationship Diagrams, Database Design Specifications, Audit Trails, and Control Procedures including, but not limited to, backup, recovery, integrity and security
• Upgrades application tools, allocates requirements for the database systems and modifies the database structure,
• Collaborates with the Application Teams in the monitoring and application performance optimization for the database
• Plans and ensures data recovery services are performed within Agency’s procedures
• Generates various reports by querying from database
• Coordinates activities with other database support groups, other state agencies and/or vendors for technical support
25% 2. Consults with both internal and external user representatives to develop information technology solutions to existing or prospective applications of high complexity:
• Review systems or database design and makes detailed recommendations of data structures and capacity planning requirements
• Monitors production systems to ensure systems are optimized to run efficiently and enforces department’s data administration standards and procedures
20% 3. Consults and provides application support and maintenance to all database-driven Web applications in the agency:
• Creates and modifies the requirements and design documents
• Creates specification, procedures, record and report formats and forms layout for applications of complexity
• Assists in the creation of logical data designs
