Mill Technician II

Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Mill Technician II to be based out of Harvey, Illinois. Reporting to the Tooling and Innovation Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for directing projects and services for Atkore's tube mills.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of metal framing experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you'll do:
Perform mill assessments and identify areas of improvement.
Assist and perform maintenance activities on equipment.
Manage the execution of mill alignments and upgrade projects.
Assist in troubleshooting root cause and correcting product deficiencies caused by equipment.
Assist in driving mill production rates to published goals.
Participate in new product trials and testing.
Train, mentor and advise maintenance and production staff on findings and recommendations.
What you'll bring:
5+ years of experience with tube mill/metal forming equipment.
Mechanical and technical skills needed to complete mill alignments and repairs.
In depth knowledge of metal forming equipment (mechanics, assembly, and maintenance).
Within 3 months, you'll:
Complete your Atkore immersion.
Gain an in depth understanding of Atkore's different tube mills and facilities.
Understand how your job will help improve Atkore's performance.
Within 6 months, you'll:
Perform mill assessments.
Create and manage maintenance/repair of metal forming equipment.
Identify opportunities to improve tube mill performance.
Within 12 months, you'll:
Schedule and execute mill alignments.
Mentor and develop site resources to do maintenance activities on their own.
Develop site and mill specific maintenance procedures and schedules.
